So many things are said or abbreviated in the service by staff, here are a few.
Please carry on

1 Rolls correct-All prisoners accounted for
2 Break off-All Prisoners accounted for, Shift finished
3 Regime-The day to day running of the prison by timings
4 Burglars- Cell Searching staff
5 Zulu's-Dogs
6 Landing rats-Front line staff

Any one else ??

2. EGP - Ex Gratia Payment
3. CSH - Contract Hours
4. CareBare - Suicide Prevention/Staff Care and Welfare
5. Seg - Segregation Unit

Brain now dead, must drink coffee.

Does any one else believe that coffee and nicotine are the staple diet of officers?

Hello, hope you are all safe and well. Just a quick point:

It may not be appropriate to put on the internet some of the callsigns and terminology we use (e.g Zulu etc) as in a lot of cases our radios do not have earpieces and would we, for example, want prisoners to understand that we were requesting a dog unit etc on the UHF net?

Just that not all readers and posters may be serving prison officers and some may be reading this site with less than noble intentions!

Cant see a problem with general prison slang etc though.

Take Care

Cat B Officer London.

Totally agree with guest,

Operational and personal security should be paramount at all times when posting, if unsure you should not post.

Although in this thread there’s more danger from the media taking it out of context then any security concerns.

Public domain and Google spring to mind

Or alternatively you could ask our friend Mark he knows everything about prisons[/u]

Cat B Officer London as guest, a most valid point and it seems you are a little concerned, ever thought of joining site and then you could effectively police it as well as joining in.

Hello, Thanks for the suggestion that I join the site. I have now done so. Am enjoying it immensely. Maybe I should have put this in the introductions section. Apologies.

At my nick the first one is usually:

"Roll is incorrect, please recount your numbers" thereafter recounted five times before another S.O turns up with another set of fingers to get the numbers right.

Funnily enough roll was correct all day on strike day by all accounts, but then it did help that the SO who usually does the roll was on the picket line at the time. Laughing
